What can you do with one dollar? If you spot a one dollar coin on the street, would you even bother to pick it up? But don’t underestimate what just one dollar can do — its value can be much more than you think! Not only can you enjoy a ‘chicken for a dollar’ in a Chinese restaurant, you can also rent an entire office with one dollar!
That’s right. Since year 2000, The Hong Kong Jockey Club has generously rented The Chest its current office at Wanchai at a nominal charge of just one dollar for ten years! When the lease expired after a decade, The Jockey Club furthered the contract for another three years, with the rental fee standing at one dollar.
The Community Chest is an independent, non-profit making organisation that is not funded by the Government. Therefore, we are very grateful to The Jockey Club for providing us with the use of our current office premises.
